(New York, NY) -- “From Me to You”, a hidden gem mined deep from the Janis Ian catalog, is revamped and restored on a new release by Singer/Songwriter Mark Newman; available Friday December 11th on Spotify and all the major music services.

Recently, Mark’s distribution company WBA Records secured him a spot on Janis Ian’s “Better Times Project” (based on her song of the same name, written during the pandemic and released earlier this year) which is designed to help artists who have been hurt financially during the pandemic.

The initiative encourages artists to submit their versions of her song and then asks that listeners support the artists versions. She has posted more than 150 videos so far from a wide variety of diverse artists, breaking all genre and international boundaries.

Afterwards, as a fan of her complete recordings, Mark went back and listened to some earlier material with an idea to record an additional song of hers to be released as a cover to land before the holidays. "From Me To You" - which appeared on the "Between The Lines" album (1975) - jumped out at him as the right tune at the right time - and the results are astounding!

Mark is a well traveled and in demand professional who has played with an eclectic mix of noted musical talents including John Oates (Hall & Oates) Jim McCarty (The Yardbirds), Willy DeVille (Mink DeVille), Sam The Sham, Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominos) and Sam Moore (Sam & Dave).

A multi stringsman, he has mastered electric/acoustic/lap steel guitar as well as the mandolin and dobro. Mark’s musical prowess has taken him around the world several times over; working alongside many soul, blues, and rock greats of our time.

As part of several of these bands, he has shared the stage with stars such as Sting, Elvis Costello, Travis Tritt and Carla Thomas as well, and as an opening act, Mark and his band have played dates with Delbert McClinton, Les Dudek, The Doobie Brothers, Don Felder of The Eagles, David Bromberg and many others.

Before “From me To You”, his most recent offering, “Empirical Truth” was the 2019 Winner of The Long Island Blues Society Best Album Category, and represented the NY area in competition at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis earlier this year.

Past releases include 2006’s “Must Be a Pony”, 2010’s “Walls of Jericho”, and 2015’s  “Brussels” - a live acoustic-driven EP.

Dec 2020 (New York, NY) — Over the last quarter century, Singer/Songwriter (and former Judge) Chris St. John has truly led a diverse and successful professional career in the field of law. Now, his dream of lateral success in the music business is starting to become a reality, with his instantly satisfying first musical releases, “It’s Christmas Day,” and “Baby in a Manger,” which are available now - just in time for the holidays.

“These are two songs I wrote on Christmas, about 10 years apart. They are not Christmas songs in the traditional sense, but they are very spiritual. They are prayers, really,” he added.

Listen to 90.3 WHPC-FM between 9pm - 11pm on Monday December 28th and hear both tunes PREMIERE LIVE on air and online at www.nccradio.org

Then, early after the new year, “I Need a Horse,” a song about a recent cattle roundup in Wyoming that St. John participated in, will be the proper lead single of his full-length album “I’m Dreaming,” which is set for release on January 20th, 2021.

Of “I Need a Horse,” Chris recalled, “I rode three horses. I knew the third one was right for me, so I purchased him from the cowboy, and now he’s here with me in New York,” he said. “The horse was beautiful, and we connected — he wrote the song, really.”

St. John has been a practicing attorney for 26 years; a former judge and prosecutor; worked in the State Department, participating in the Reagan-Gorbachev Summit in 1987; and lived, studied, and taught in China later that year. He was also a Congressional Aide and is now a volunteer firefighter.

In 2015, he and his friend started a not-for-profit charity called HALO Missions, which provides medical care, clothing, food, farming equipment, and surgeries for AIDS orphans and the extreme poor throughout Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean.

“My professional career is what I do. These songs are who I am. They are about my personal life. The songs have been written over about 30 years, with four new ones written in the last several months to finish up the album,” he added.

The topics include the loss of love at a young age; the loss of his parents; the birth of his son John (now 17) and life with his wife of 27 years Elisabeth; a surprise DNA discovery; a serious illness where he was put in a medically induced coma, and a nurse sang him back to life; the loss of a young relative in a car accident and the subsequent climb out of depression; alcohol addiction and recovery; and a gift from his grandmother that he intends to return to her someday.

“I played in bands and won some talent shows in college. Folks have encouraged me to produce these songs. When I came back from Wyoming, I wrote ‘I Need a Horse.’ I produced it professionally and decided to keep on going. The album addresses sorrow, but always comes back to hope and perseverance. You just have to keep going and enjoy every day.”

“The title of the LP is ‘I’m Dreaming’ because some of these songs were dreamed up and written down when I awoke. And there are so many references to dreaming in the album. I guess I like to dream. People have told me I should write a book or make an album. This is both to me.”

The album will contain 13 original songs. Both the individual songs and the entire album can be downloaded for purchase from iTunes, Spotify, and all other musical platforms.

Nov 2020 (New York, NY) — “Penny Lane”, the new release from singer/songwriter Jeff Lake and his classical music compadres in Cellophane Flowers, is available now on Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, and all the major music services. Hard copy CDs are also due to be released to retail in January.

Jeff Lake & Cellophane Flowers put a new spin on the music of The Beatles by turning to an older form of music — classical music!

The group replaces electric guitars with violins & cello for its core sound while adding traces of modern production, acoustic guitar & Lake’s smooth vocal delivery.  While tracks such as “Penny Lane” take a minimalistic baroque-era approach — string quartet & voice — other tracks such as “Within You Without You/ Tomorrow Never Knows” are a psychedelic joy ride. “Sugar Plum Lucy” is a delightful fusion of Tchaikovsky with elements of both The Beatles & Elton John versions of “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds”. And “Honey Pie” will transport you to the bygone era of cabaret & vinyl. Whether you’re a Beatle fan or not, this album is a fresh take on music written over 50 years ago. Cellophane Flowers of yellow & green forever.

Be sure to check out the next, few virtual shows at The Fest for Beatle Fans on Facebook...

On Friday, 11/27,  Jeff Lake teams up with keyboardist extraordinaire, Chris Clark (current member of Brand X, Miss Saigon, Mama Mia) to bring you an intimate, piano-bar-styled show featuring the music of Sir Paul McCartney. The repertoire spans McCartney’s entire career including hits & deep cuts from his solo career as well as Wings & The Beatles.

On Friday, 12/11, ring in the Holidays with the CELLOPHANE TRIO performing unique arrangements of seasonal Beatle classics such as “Happy Xmas” & “Wonderful Christmastime”.

And on Friday, 1/22, join us for a VIRTUAL CD RELEASE PARTY for the Penny Lane CD package.

In addition to their highly respected and wildly successful all-Beatle show (The Beatles Are Bach) you can also catch CELLOPHANE FLOWERS performing two astounding additional shows:

Nov 2020 (New York, NY) — Watch the video for “Table”, the new release from rapper donSMITH, on YouTube now. The single is also available on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, Apple Music and all the major services.

"Don't Ask Me Where I'm From" is the NEW soulful and culturally articulate full length from donSMITH. Concise in length, the 30 minute album is entirely produced by Zoomo, a soul sampler buzzing amongst the underground and Peter Rosenberg’s weekly real late night Hot 97 radio show.

With limited features from east coast artists like PayDay signee Radamiz, and D.C. 's quickly rising emcee Ankhlejohn, donSMITH proclaims his cultural pride and geographical commitment, especially at the hands of gentrification.

On tracks like “Piragua” & “NYCHA”, donSMITH is boldly emphasizing a central theme: for us, by us, while records like “donDADA” & “All I Got” give praise to the family and women birthed in the culture of uptown, New York City.

This album acts as the centerpiece to donSMITH's soulful and politically charged duel EP’s “Dear Culture” & “Postscript", circling back to a central theme: “for us, by us”.

About donSMITH:

donSMITH is a 27 year old Harlem-bred artist and storyteller, illustrating the harsh realities and triumphs of his black and brown culture. Initially a producer and musician, donSMITH began to focus on the lyrical aspect of music. Eventually releasing his first EP, the Harlem emcee performed all over New York City, including The Knitting Factory, Bowery Electric, National Sawdust & more. donSMITH strives to create art that reflects the beauty birthed by struggle, trials with finding god, and cultural evaporation. Raw vulnerability and soulful storytelling are the backbone of donSMITH’s message, aiming to breed hope and fellowship among listeners, no matter where they are from.

August 2020 (New York, NY) — “Don’t Forget to Remember Me”, the new single/video from engaging young Austin based Singer/Songwriter Emma Pierson, is available on Spotify, YouTube and all the other major services today Friday August 28th 2020.

The song, co-written and produced by Emma alongside fellow students at Stages Music Arts in Maryland where she grew up, invites the listener to recall a time when someone they loved moved away, or when they themselves had to move away from their loved ones; as Emma was experiencing personally at the time during her move to Austin, TX last year.

Usually regarded as a sad moment, the situation could conversely be seen as a hopeful time to take a look back at the amazing memories that were created together, making a pact to stay in touch and stay just as close friends as before - despite the geographic challenges you will now face.

The message in Don’t Forget to Remember Me is also made especially relevant in the time of the COVID 19 pandemic, where social distancing and quarantines have made us all feel disconnected from our family and peers - regardless of location - sometimes even from those in our own house!

“Last year, one of my close friends moved to Ohio and I was feeling pretty sad about that; not knowing when we would see each other again”, Emma recalled, “Then it was decided that my family would be moving out of state as well; so I wrote this song as a way to help us never forget these friendships we built together”.

In addition to continuing her work with Stages, Emma’s eventual move to Austin has opened the doors for her to expand her musical endeavors under the guidance of celebrated singer/songwriters, Chad and Natasha Hudson, the proprietors of Hudson’s on Mercer.

She continued, “This song will hopefully serve as a reminder to everyone that we need to cherish the time we spend with each other, and that no matter the distance we need to work hard to keep in touch so we can make more memories together”.

Though “Don’t Forget to Remember Me” features a soulful, country-pop vibe, her upcoming tunes will showcase the evolution of her vocals, feature more mature themes, and highlight the influence of significant pop icons like Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

Follow Emma’s journey on Instagram for the latest info on shows, releases and more.

What You Should Know About Engineered Wood Flooring

Wood flooring is a timeless and chic option for at least one room of your house. If you are remodeling, there are high chances that someone will suggest you to opt for a wood flooring as it gives a warm and cozy feel to a house. There are three kinds of wood flooring: solid hardwood, laminate flooring, and engineered wood flooring.

For those who do not wish to opt for a solid hardwood flooring, engineered wood flooring is a smart option as it is a finish of plywood and finish wood. In technical terms, what you see and walk on is the finish wood, while plywood comes underneath and about 75 percent of the flooring comprises of plywood. It is the plywood that distinguishes engineered wood flooring from solid hardwood, and engineered wood flooring serves as a perfect alternate to solid hardwood.

Engineered wood flooring looks and feels exactly like solid hardwood as the top is actual hardwood, albeit a very thin layer, and below the solid wood is replaced by plywood, a high-quality one.
Well-regarded by homebuyers, engineered wood flooring also has a high resale value, although it falls in the pricier category. It also has stability against heat therefore is a great choice for radiant heating.  Engineered wood flooring can also be sanded to a minimal degree if it develops scratches, and the base of engineered wood flooring demonstrates a higher resilience to water.

As compared to solid hardwood, engineered wood flooring stands up better against moisture, and works well in areas where light moisture is present such as bathrooms, basements, and kitchens. However, the best areas for engineered wood flooring are bedrooms, hallways, and living rooms, areas that typically stay dry. Areas that may flood frequently are not at all suited for engineered wood flooring.

With an appearance of real solid hardwood flooring, engineered wood flooring is slightly more affordable, and offers a life expectancy of almost thirty years. Most types of installations of engineered wood flooring are glue-down or nail-down, and a professional installation is more common instead of a DIY. Engineered wood flooring also comes in a lot of different styles and colors, and finding one to suit your need as per the décor of your house will be an easy task.

Engineered hardwood flooring can be, at least once, sanded and refinished, and can even be refinished up to three times if the flooring has a particularly thick veneer layer. Engineered wood flooring has a cost which typically starts at $4.50 per square foot, however, usually the average cost is $8 per square foot. The cost of an engineered wood flooring can come up to the range of $15 to $20 per square foot as a professional installation is recommended for it. Engineered hardwood flooring can easily rival solid hardwood as it looks almost the same, and has a prestige about it. Also superior to laminate flooring, engineered hardwood flooring is the way to go, and can instantly uplift and give a brand-new look and feel to your home décor.
